About

A return to the art of doing. Less scrolling, more creating. Just simple, beautiful ways to turn inspiration into something real.

Why I made this

I’ve always loved making things. But somewhere along the way, I found myself spending more time looking at beautiful ideas than actually bringing them to life.

I would scroll through endless crafts, activities, and creative projects, saving everything that caught my eye. I’d tell myself I would try them someday, but more often than not, they were forgotten almost as quickly as I found them.

I began wishing there were a way to scroll through inspiration in real life. Something I could pick up, flip through, and feel excited to actually do. No more endless searching, forgotten bookmarks, or getting distracted before I even began.

I wanted all that wonderful inspiration gathered in one beautiful, tangible place—something that made being creative feel as effortless as discovering the idea in the first place.

The Turning Point

Drawing on my lifelong love of art, my experience as a camp counselor, and now my perspective as a new mother, I began imagining what that book could look like.

I thought about the activities that had delighted me growing up, the crafts and games that brought children together at camp, and the kind of creative childhood I wanted to give my own family.

I wanted a collection that felt endlessly inspiring but wonderfully simple to use. Something you could open to almost any page and find yourself making, playing, experimenting, or exploring—without spending an afternoon searching for instructions or tracking down obscure supplies.

Above all, I wanted a book that didn't just give people ideas, but inspired them to actually begin.

Listening to Parents

As the idea took shape, I began talking with friends and parents about what would make a book like this genuinely useful.

Again and again, I heard the same wish: they wanted more creativity, imagination, and meaningful experiences in their children's lives, without the time and effort of constantly planning something new.

  • Something beautiful enough to leave out and reach for often.
  • Projects made with simple, accessible materials.
  • A book their children could flip through and discover ideas for themselves.
  • Activities ranging from quick and easy to wonderfully immersive.
  • Projects with clear outcomes, alongside opportunities for imagination and interpretation.
  • Ideas to enjoy independently, together as a family, or with friends.

With all of this in mind, Recipes for Fun began to take shape—a collection of over 100 crafts, games, and activities designed to turn everyday inspiration into something real.

How it Was Made

So I created it.

After years filling notebooks with ideas, I went through, refining each activity, simplifying every instruction, and capturing each idea bathed in natural light outside in my garden.

Every page was designed to be returned to again and again.
